whale watching season

Whale Watching season runs from mid-May to mid-December, and is the highlight of the year.

The playful, curious and acrobatic Humpback whales visit our shores annually. Ideal viewing is June through to November. Here they come to mate and raise their offspring in the warm waters of Indian Ocean. The Humpbacks can travel up to 25,000 km in their annual migration. The warm conditions allow their babies time to prepare for the cold waters of the Arctic oceans on their return trip.

the adrenaline of a surf launch

To experience a surf launch on our Zululand north coast is one not to be missed. First you have the anticipation as you travel on the Whale train down to the beach. Next is the adrenaline rush as the boat launches through the surf. As you pass the final breakers, you  heave a sigh of relief. You are through! Now its time to start searching for the Humpbacks.

It is truly an amazing experience being out on the ocean with these magnificent mammals. Seeing a birth, a mating or just sharing in the unmitigated joy of a breach as they lift that huge body completely free of the water is an experience you will never forget. It can be a life changing, and soul stirring experience.

Whether you are looking for a leisurely cruise down the estuary, or an adrenaline pumping whale excursion, be sure to look up Advantage Tours St Lucia on your next visit to Zululand.
