It would be interesting to know what is still left in the park, it has long been on my mind to find out how the park is being managed and whether there is still a good mix of animals left. Historically there were wildebeest, giraffe, waterbuck, duikers, zebra, bushpig, impala, hippos and crocodiles. Perhaps there is someone who can elaborate on this?

I recently spent 5 days in the park and it was amazing! Sandy beaches where the Leathback and Loggerhead Turtles nest to the rocky shores of Mission Rocks. Birds everywhere and animals big and small. This park has all the Big5 except Lion, and you can see the whales migrating from one of the many look-out points. Hippo's playing in the sunset and the always naughty and curious Vervet Monkey's. The Crocodile Centre is a must, situated at the entrance to the park. The centre also allows you to get your picture taken with these water dwelling beasts, and the curio shop is excellent!

Hi Mark, great article! Have hiked all these forests alone - they are truly magnificent, each in its own way, and should be protected and respected :)
Thanks for all the contact numbers- that was useful.
